BATH -- Entered into rest Monday, June 30, 2008, Mr. Archie Abear, 94, of Bath, beloved husband of 73 years to Vera Dell Ford Abear and son of the late Henry and Annie Davis Abear.
Born in and a lifelong resident of Aiken County, he was a retired entrepreneur. Mr. Abear was a servant to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and was a very active member of Midland Valley First Church of the Nazarene. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and working with stainless steel.
In addition to his wife, family members include children, the late Anita Abear, the late Carolyn Wingard, Alton Abear (Ann), Graniteville, James Abear (Janet), Graniteville, and Melanie Alison (Mark), North Augusta; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and one great-great-great-grandchild.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Thursday, July 3, 2008, at 4 p.m. at Midland Valley First Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Brent Van Hook and Pastor John Faircloth officiating. Interment will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Bath. Pallbearers will be Mike Merriett, Jack Morris, James Cosnahan, Ron Jordan, John Rutherford, Wendell Hughes, Eddie Chalker, Wayne Plunkett and Scott Looman.
It is been requested that memorials in memory of Mr. Abear be made to Midland Valley First Church of the Nazarene, c/o the Music Ministry, 3526 Jefferson Davis Hwy, Clearwater, SC 29822. The family will greet friends Wednesday, July 2, 2008, from 6 until 8 p.m. at Hatcher Funeral Home & Cremation Service, U.S. Hwy. 1, Langley.
