NORTH AUGUSTA -- Completed life's journey and entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, June 18, 2008, Mr. Carl Lee Gayle of North Augusta, beloved husband of Shelvedene Carter Gayle and son of the late Victor Gayle and the late Lola Adams Gayle Howell. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Carleen (Ron) Gayle Carter of Appling, Ga.; a son, Victor Glen (Kathy) Gayle of North Augusta; sisters, Peggy (R.L.) Cromer of North Augusta and Judy (Andy) Jones of Ohio; and four grandchildren, Elijah Carter, Jessie Carter, Justin Gayle and Joshua Gayle. He was born in Suffolk, Va., but had been a resident of North Augusta for the past 52 years. He was of the Baptist faith. He was a member of the Bath Masonic Lodge for over 48 years. He was retired from International Paper Company and was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed by all whose lives he touched. A graveside service will be conducted today, Friday, June 20, 2008, at 2 p.m. at the Graniteville Cemetery in Graniteville with the Rev. John Meyer officiating. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery by 1:45 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Belvedere First Baptist Church Benevolence Fund, 421 Edgefield Road, North Augusta, SC 29841. Napier Funeral Home, 315 Main St., Graniteville, is in charge of the arrangements.
