Aiken Public Safety is looking for a Blackville man spotted in the City of Aiken about 1 p.m. Tuesday but who got away before police arrived to pick him up, according to officials.

Donance Montrell Mayes, 20, of Robinson Street was spotted at the McDonald's restaurant on Whiskey Road, said Lt. David Turno, a spokesperson for Aiken Public Safety.

The 20-year-old man is wanted by the Barnwell Police Department on allegations he and two other men broke into a Barnwell home on May 18 and shot a man, according to Detective Frank Sutton with the Barnwell Police Department.

When the victim woke up, he was shot and as a result was hospitalized in Georgia for a week, Sutton said.

He is wanted for first-degree burglary, assault and battery with intent to kill, armed robbery, conspiring to commit armed robbery and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.

Mayes should be considered armed and dangerous, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Aiken Public Safety at 642-7620 or CrimeStoppers of the Midlands at (888) CRIME-SC. Callers can remain anonymous and be eligible for a cash reward of between $50 and $1,000.
