Two big bumps to your SUV, the sound of metal scraping, the odor of gas, oil, rubber? A DEER would not do that. All it takes it to roll down your window...pull out your cell and call 911. Leaving the scene regardless if you were drinking, regardless if the motorcyclist was drinking, shows little regard for your actions, no regards to the life of someone you may or may not have taken. I would have been scared out of my mind, but i would have called 911 rolled my window up, locked my car and waited for authorities to come. I don't care if she or the motorcyclist were drinking, if they got tangled up before she came along or not...leaving a man possibly dead in a ditch and another one in the middle of the road is just plain wrong. Officials said it appears as if the vehicle struck a Harley Davidson, driven by Michael Younts, 48, of Coventry Court in North Augusta, and then drove 100 yards and struck the Harley Davidson that Cohrs was driving.

Had the motorcyclists been drinking before the accident?
Response to Rayhawk : 5/25/2008
Channel 6 News said that the police thought the motorcyclist got tangled up before the SUV even came on the scene. The reporter said the two motorcylces were riding and got tangled up, causing Mr. Younts to wreck. They said that the Mr. Cohrs went to check on him and when he went to do that was when he was hit by the SUV. This is what the police had speculated at the time on Friday night as they were piecing together the story. It is a horrible tragedy and I know that Ginger will have to pay the consequences of what happened. It is so sad...she has young children that will have to go through the pain of all of this too. I feel for all of the families involved in this.
Pray for both families : 5/25/2008
Haven't we all done something that we have regretted at some time or another. Yes, she does need to account for her actions but she has a family also. Why do people say such vile things about others. Remember the chances of you having a family member making a serious mistake are very high. She made a horrible mistake, she will have to account for her actions (to her peers, family and to her Father in Heaven). If she is a mother she will have to account for her actions to her children as well. I'm sure that she feels terrible for what the other family is going through as well. I too have lost a family member to a drunk driver but, I had to forgive that person because that is what my family member would have wanted me to do. I do hope that she gets help. I'm sure that this will be a wakeup call for her. After she pays her dues with the court system she can be rehabilitated if she is sincere. We all have to give her a chance.
wandeing how : 5/25/2008
how can you tell who was driving the suv when it was dark especially when one guy was hit from behind then 100 yards away the other guy got killed last time i recall when you get smack you are incoherrant whats going on unless someone trying to frame someone
Where is the info : 5/25/2008
Can you provide your sources for the latest reports that state the two bikes tangled up before the SUV got there, and that Jim turned around to check and that is when he was hit? I'm curious to know who stated Jim turned around to check on the bike behind him. Jim died at the scene, and the other bike was already down. If the SUV was behind Jim close enough to hit him then who saw him turn around? The road is dark, but there was also a nice full moon out there and motorcycles make more noise than deer, they have lights too. I think it might have been hard to miss the fact that a motorcycle and rider had just been hit, even if it was dark. So many questions...I hope we get answers.

I think that what happend was terrible!!! i lost a brother to a drunk driver and i think that she should have to pay for what she has done, however the paper is making her seem as if she did not turn herself in... she did run from the scene as probally anyone else drunk would do being scared and able.. not saying it is right, she did later turn herself in.... i think that she will live with this for the rest of her life... people should really think about this... everyone always says it wont happen to me she is wrong... it happens every day.... GET DESIGNATED DRIVERS PEOPLE...I hope that the family of the motorcyclist can eventually find peace..may God bless them in their time of need and discomfort...

The truth will come out and she will pay for what she's done. It's just really sad that it wont bring this mans life back! It will always affect his friend!Hopefully she will get JUST what she desreves! It sounds like she didnt mean to hit him but she did and then ran over the other man and LEFT knowing it! The truth will come out.
hit and run : 5/25/2008
Yes ,I think it DOES matter if she was DRUNK, she wouldnt have fled! Yes a man is dead, that HORRIBLE! If she hadnt been drunk ,she wouldnt have hit him to start with. Sources are saying she was at the bar to.
Hit and Run : 5/25/2008
She KNEW she hit the first man! drunk or not, she knew she hit him! She did stop because someone saw her. Then took back off.The truth WILL come out. This was a HORRIBLE thing, accident or not. There's a man thats dead, and one left that has to deal with this. She also has to live with this, accident or not.
Did She Know? : 5/25/2008
That road is so dark. Maybe she thought she had hit a deer or a large animal. It would have been terrifying to get out of the car on that road and at that time of night. She could have pulled over and not seen anything and then drove off because it was so dark. The very latest reports say that the two motorcyclists got tangled up before the SUV even got there and that is how the first guy wrecked. The reporter said Mr. Cohrs turned around to check on Mr. Younts and that is when he was hit by the SUV. This is an unimaginable tragedy but I really think this will turn out to be a horrible accident.
Leaving the scene? : 5/24/2008
She left the scene of the first crash leaving a man wounded. At that point a crime was already committed and she was fleeing. I think hitting Jim and leaving that scene should amount to much more than just leaving the scene. Had she never fled the scene after hitting the first man Jim would be here today.
Hit and Run : 5/24/2008
Doesn't it matter? She killed someone all the same!!
Hit and Run : 5/24/2008
Was she drunk? People say that she was?!
