Helen Elizabeth Whittle McGee
GRANITEVILLE -- Completed life's journey and entered into eternal rest on Friday, May 16, 2008, Helen Elizabeth Whittle McGee, age 79, of Graniteville, widow of the late David H.L. McGee and daughter of the late James Albert Whittle and the late Ola Mae Barton Whittle. She is survived by a daughter, Glenda Dotson, and a son, Danny McGee, both of Graniteville; two brothers, William A. (Emily) Whittle of Aiken and Bobby A. Whittle and his companion; Mrs. McGee's faithful caretaker, Sylvia Goff of Graniteville; five grandchildren, Chris (Keri) McGee, Amanda (James) Whittle, Kenny McGee and his fiancée Lacey, Brandi (Chad) Polatty and Kevin Dotson; six great-grandchildren; and her beloved pet, Mitzi. She was born in Graniteville and was a lifelong resident of Aiken County. She was an active member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Graniteville. She was a choir member, taught Sunday School and was the first woman to serve on the Vestry at St. Paul's. She was a member of the 1976 Bicentennial Choir, a chartered member of the Jaycetts and a former Girl Scout leader. She was a loving and caring mother and grandmother. She was a sweet lady with a beautiful smile and wonderful personality. She loved her family and friends and in return was loved by everybody. She will be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched. However, her life has not ended; it has just begun, as she has gone to her Heavenly home where she shall live forever with no more pain or sorrow. The funeral service will be conducted Tuesday, May 20, 2008, at 4 p.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Graniteville with the Rev. Douglas Puckett officiating. The interment will follow at the Graniteville Cemetery. The pallbearers will be Kris Kneece, Allen Whittle, Mackie Walker Sr., Dwayne Mayer, Wyman Rodgers, Kenny Eubanks, Earl Melton, Jerry McGee and Ric Castles. The family will receive friends Monday, May 19 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Napier Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 276, Graniteville, SC 29829.
