The Aiken Community Playhouse (ACP) is winding down its Black Box Coffeehouse series. The final performance of the 2007-08 season will be held Friday at 7 p.m.
The ACP welcomes back crowd favorite, Drew Davis. Davis, a guitarist and songwriter, is set to perform a combination of original music and music from some of his greatest influences like Kris Kristofferson, Hank Williams and Johnny Cash. Davis has also written a 10-minute play entitled "First and Goal." Davis will direct ACP actors Dustin Turner and Paul Wilson.
The coffeehouse audience will also be treated to Broadway Memories featuring singers Lisa Tharp and Bill Bernard. The pair will sing songs from "Man of La Mancha," "Songs for a New World," "South Pacific" and others.
Also performing will be the cast of the ACP's upcoming musical, "Sweeney Todd," directed by Danny Lee. The Cole Group, ACP's Youth Wing Improv Group and open mic participants will fill out the evening.
"I am so excited about this ACP coffeehouse season. We have sold out nearly every seat for every show," said Maureen Woltermann, ACP first vice president and Coffeehouse chairwoman. "I think these coffeehouses are the best entertainment for the money in Aiken right now. We hope this audience will return to the ACP this summer for our premiere ACP summer season. We are presenting 'Medea,' 'Tick Tick Boom' and 'The Complete Works of William Shakespeare, Abridged.'"
