A 62-year-old Salley man died Wednesday from injuries he sustained in a single-vehicle crash late last week at the intersection of New Holland and Cooks Bridge roads, officials say.
Robert Widener was pronounced dead at the Medical College of Georgia shortly before 2 p.m. on Wednesday.
The Salley man was involved in a single-vehicle crash on March 14 around 10:45 p.m. near New Holland Road in Aiken County, said Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton.
Widener was the unrestrained driver of a 1997 Chevrolet pickup truck.
Widener lost control of his vehicle, which overturned several times and then struck a tree near the intersection of New Holland and Cooks Bridge roads, according to the S.C. Highway Patrol.
He was airlifted to the Medical College of Georgia, where he died from multiple body trauma Wednesday, Carlton said.
Alcohol is considered to be a factor in this crash.
His is the eighth fatal crash in Aiken County this year, according to the coroner's office.
