Defections continue to plague the South Coast League baseball organization as it is preparing to try to get its teams on the field for year No. 2. Another key member of the league's front office staff, Anderson Joes' general manager Garrett Ball, announced his resignation Wednesday.
Ball, who had also been given the title of vice president of South Carolina Baseball Operations in the offseason, will be giving up that position as well.
"As it is with any team or league in minor league baseball, turnover is fact of life," said league Chief Executive Officer Jamie Toole. "It is unfortunate that it happens, but you have to move forward regardless. The good thing is you find capable people to replace those you've lost and continue without skipping a beat."
Taking Ball's place on an interim basis will be current assistant general manager Jody Sellers.
"Jody will do a fantastic job for us, as he has already demonstrated his abilities, filling several different roles for us in our first couple of seasons of operation," said Toole.
Another league transaction was announced Wednesday, as the South Georgia Peanuts announced the hiring of Joe Livingston as the team's director of groups and ticket sales. Livingston makes his way to middle Georgia by way of Maryland, where he worked for the Frederick Keys.
Closer to home, the SCL is still looking to fill the position of general manager with the Aiken Foxhounds. Bradley Bell resigned last month to explore other opportunities, and the league has not yet announced a replacement.
