Two men have been arrested in connection with an April 23 shooting in the parking lot of Hitchcock Animal Hospital. 

Aiken Department of Public Safety officers arrested Rashod Boyd, 19, and Jaylon Sims, 18, both of North Augusta, Lt. Jennifer Hayes said Friday afternoon.

Officers were called to the scene of the shooting at around 3:30 p.m., Hayes continued. Upon arrival, officers found a person with a non-life threatening gunshot wound, she said.

Boyd and Sims allegedly fired three shots into three apartments at the Ashton Apartments, according to the warrants.

The Ashton Apartments are located along Trail Ridge Road. The Hitchcock Animal Hospital is located between the apartments and Hitchcock Parkway.

One of the shots traveled from the apartments into the animal hospital's parking lot and struck a woman, the warrant continued.  

Boyd and Sims have been charged with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, breach of the peace aggravated in nature and discharging a weapon into a dwelling. 

The Aiken County Sheriff's Office, South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, the ATF and the North Augusta Department of Public Safety assisted with the investigation.
