Pringle

Nick Pringle is headed to South Carolina.

COLUMBIA — Lamont Paris added another heavy piece to next year's basketball team on Saturday when Alabama transfer Nick Pringle committed to South Carolina.

Pringle, a 6-foot-10 forward, is a native of Seabrook, went to Whale Branch High and played his first collegiate season at Wofford. He went to Dodge City (Kan.) Community College and then Alabama.

Pringle was visiting USC this weekend and was at Saturday's baseball game. He apparently saw no need to wait on his decision.

Pringle started 16 of 34 games in the Crimson Tide's Final Four season, averaging 6.8 points, 5.1 rebounds and collecting 40 dunks. One of his three double-doubles was against Clemson in the Elite Eight.

He averaged 6.2 points and rebounds per game in the NCAA Tournament. Pringle fought past a midseason suspension for conduct detrimental to the team to play a crucial role down the stretch.

Pringle can step right into the role vacated by senior B.J. Mack, who also played at Wofford. The two played together with the Terriers during the 2020-21 season.

Paris also added Missouri transfer Jordan Butler for next year as well as getting a pledge from freshman Cam Scott, after Scott had originally committed to Texas.

USC has one open scholarship for next year.
